I have learned many things about myself through reading this eye-opening book. Perks of Being a Wallflower is truly a novel of its time. It reflects the struggles of the common teen in today's society and me, being a teen in today's society, can relate to the theme of the story very heavily. I often found myself feeling as though I was reading an autobiography rather than a realistic fiction novel. It was similar to taking off a bandage that I hadn't been able to for a long time out of fear of pain. It was sudden. When Perks of Being a Wallflower really clicked in my mind I realized three things. First being that I am not alone. I am not the only teen feeling the way I do. I have always known that others faced depression and anxiety and dislike from those around them, but the way the book said the things it did and the way it was read made me relate on a whole new level. The subjects written about and the first person view of them really helped me to see that I am in fact not alone. The second thing learned was that
